the mission

building narrative power!

Narratives shape life paths: reshaping harmful narratives everywhere they show up is key to reshaping our world.

Cultural work, art, and organizing are life affirming, creating space for life where it wasn’t possible otherwise.

Art, story, and culture are world-making tools that we can use to shape ourselves and the world around us.

(re)creating world-making practices

Narratives structure the culture we live in. They create knowledge, politics, legislation, policy, architectures, worlds, and life paths. They influence our relationship to the world and ourselves, defining what can and cannot exist.

Our identities are shaped by narrative. Reshaping our relationship to these narratives is a gateway to reshaping the world.

Identity is a practice. Identity is not impermeable. What we know about ourselves now may not be the same in the future. Crisis, rupture, and adaptation are necessary parts of life.

Building regenerative systems requires space for regenerative and freeing identities, play, joy, and creativity.

implementing change-shaping strategies

Everything's gotta give: for a cultural shift toward regenerative systems, systems of harm need to be upended entirely.

Community safety and systems of care outside of systems of harm are necessary for collective survival.

Harnessing our collective creativity will build regenerative cultural change.

who are you, really?

EVERY WORD HIDES A WAR. A HISTORY IS ALWAYS STOWED INSIDE. WHEN THEY LIE TO YOU ABOUT YOURSELF, YOUR EVERY MOVE CAN BE WRITTEN IN THEIR STORY. SEE YOURSELF WITHOUT WORDS. THEN, SHAPE YOUR WORDS TO FIT YOU. SHAPE YOUR WORDS SO WHEN YOU SAY THEM, THEY WARM YOU AND YOURS. BREAK THE STONE OVER YOUR HEART. NO MATTER HOW MANY WAYS THEY ATTACK YOU, EVERY LIE DEPENDS ON BELIEVING IT TO BE TRUE. LANGUAGE IS THEIR FIRST LINE OF DEFENSE AND STRONGEST WEAPON. BREAK THE ALGORITHM MOVING YOUR HANDS. BREAK TIME TO MAKE A NEW STORY. FIND GLITCHES. FIND TRUE WORDS. BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. WHEN YOU ANSWER THE QUESTION “WHO ARE YOU REALLY?” MAKE SURE THE ANSWER WARMS YOU. MAKE SURE IT’S NOT STERILE.

do you remember how to cry?

seafarer's song
after nayrouz qarmout
tread water
tread water
my needle and thread
stitching a quilt soft
as tides wetting sand
I try to remember that
I am the hand
as the body bobs up &
sinks deep then
gives in
tread water
tread water
the ocean begins
somewhere between eyes,
or lips,
or life's end
I try to remember
just where I began
as the body bobs up &
sinks deep then
gives in
sea cloak warm as love
sea heart sweet with youth
life's purpose answered
in dying with you
tread water
tread water
my needle and thread
stitches me back
to who I've always been
but what lovely laughter
these waves break me to!
I won't seek
a hereafter
a shore or
a Truth
sea cloak warm as love
sea heart sweet with youth
life's purpose answered
in rising with you

aren't you tired?

world-maker's anthem

WHAT'S A WORD TO ME?
MY HEART HAS TEETH, IT EATS
THROUGH OBSTACLES
THROUGH CITIES SO REPLETE
WITH STABILITY FALSE AS FLUORESCENT SHINE -- WEAK!
YOU CANNOT MAKE ME WHO YOU WANT ME TO BE

do you want to go home?

REJECT REJECTION. BUT KNOW. WHAT’S BEEN TAKEN FROM YOU CAN’T BE REGAINED. IT’S NOT THE SAME AS IT WAS THEN. EVERYTHING’S NEW. THE TERRAIN HAS CHANGED. BUT IT CAN BE RECLAIMED IN OTHER WAYS. IN QUEER, CRAZY, & GLITCHY WAYS, WITH A DIFFERENT FACE AND A DIFFERENT NAME, THROUGH DAILY ACTS OF WILD FAITH.
